European School for Advanced Veterinary StudiesThe European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies, Luxembourg (ESAVS) was founded in 1991. It was created as a University-Enterprise-Training-Partnership (UETP) in the frame of a pilot project of the EU’s COMETT II programme, followed by additional projects under the EU’s Leonardo Da Vinci programme.The umbrella organisation of ESAVS is the European Association for Veterinary Specialisation (EAVS), a non-profit organisation registered in Luxembourg (A.S.B.L., reg.Nr.vol.411 fol.100 case 4). The ESAVS is an associate member of the Fedération Européenne des Animaux de Companie (FECAVA) and is supported by the Union of European Veterinary Practitioners (UEVP). The first series of ESAVS 3-year training programs were started in 1992 and were successfully concluded in Spring 1994. Since then, new training programs have been introduced every year. Outstanding Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is guaranteed by small groups of participants, modern facilities and practical workshops. • As of 2011 over 6.000 veterinarians from 51 countries have attended over 300 ESAVS courses at 30 European and several Asian locations • Over 346 course masters and principal speakers from 20 countries world around have been involved in the training programs Since 2006 the ESAVS is attached to the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication at the University of Luxemburg.
